Residents looking for a different approach to primary care now have a new option with the opening of Grace Concierge and Wellness, a family nurse practitioner practice that combines traditional primary care with a concierge services and more personalized care.
Owned by Family Nurse Practitioner Latara Craddock, the practice officially opened following a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 27 and is now accepting new patients at its office on South Stratford Road.
Craddock said her new family practice provides care from 11 to 100 years of age. She covers everything most family practices cover by providing primary care services, sick visits and sports physicals. But in addition to traditional primary care, Craddock’s practice adds a twist; it offers concierge services.
“Concierge care allows you to have a more individualized care for the patient, meaning that you go out to them. Generally, the visits are 30 minutes or greater and the patient has direct access to you. And most of the services are provided in the home for the convenience of the patient,” she said.
Craddock brings nearly two decades of nursing experience to her new practice. A registered nurse for 19 years and a family nurse practitioner for the past seven, she has spent much of her career caring for older adults in the Winston-Salem area. Her clinical expertise includes diabetes management and thyroid disorders.
The decision to open her own practice grew from conversations with patients who wanted to continue receiving care from her, even after changes in employment or insurance coverage.
“When I worked at my prior job, I had patients who did not have Medicare and Medicaid and [they] still would like me to be their primary care provider. So, I started Grace Concierge and Wellness so I can service them by getting more insurance contracts.” In addition to more insurance plans, Craddock says the concierge model allows more time with patients.
The fee-for-service offices are driven by the number of patients they see. In those settings, patients get only 15 minutes with their provider. “Generally, the [concierge] visits are 30 minutes or greater and the patient has direct access to me. And most of the services are provided in the home for the convenience of the patient,” she added.
Recognizing that many people struggle to schedule doctor’s appointments during regular business hours, the practice also offers evening and Saturday appointments.
“My hours are for working people like me. My current hours are in the afternoon 5:30-8:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and Saturdays, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
The practice shares its Stratford Road location with Grace Wellness and Aesthetics Studio, Craddock’s med spa, where services include IV hydration therapy, Botox, body sculpting and other wellness treatments. Bringing both practices together allows patients to access primary care and wellness services in one location.
Grace Concierge and Wellness is located at 1100 S. Stratford Road, Building A, Suite 524, and accepts most major insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. The practice is currently accepting new patients from Winston-Salem and surrounding communities.
