2026 MLK Jr. youth scholarship recipients will also be recognized
The Ministers’ Conference of Winston-Salem and Vicinity is proud to announce their upcoming 96th anniversary celebration at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1075 Shalimar Dr, Winston-Salem. As part of the celebration, the conference will host a Community Gospel Fest this Saturday, July 18 at 3 p.m.
This is an opportunity for churches throughout the community to come together in worship, praise and fellowship. The Ministers’ Conference wants to emphasize this is a community choir event, so there is no need for rehearsals.
With this vision in mind, the conference would like to propose reimagining their anniversary celebration into a more engaging and spirit-filled experience by presenting it as the city’s own version of the “Choir Room.” The event will include special guests such as saxophonist Ezra Tutt, St. John CME’s dance ministry, and voices from churches around the city.
“Rather than a traditional program, the gathering would capture the warmth and authenticity of the church testimony services many of us remember and an atmosphere where voices unite in song, in their hearts, and are encouraged through worship,” said Pam Peoples-Joyner, D.Min, co-chairman of the economic development committee of the conference.
The conference is making a clarion call for any choir large or small to bless the event with their presence and make the celebration a memorable expression of faith and community. Their goal is to unite voices from across the city and beyond in a spirit of joy, encouragement and worship.
The conference will not only continue the cherished tradition of honoring their founders; they will also celebrate their 2026 MLK Jr. youth scholarship recipients and recognize their distinguished guests.
“We envision an atmosphere where everyone feels welcome to just come as they are,” said Dr. Peoples-Joyner, “and experience an afternoon filled with heartfelt worship, uplifting music, meaningful connections, and powerful praise as we gather together to celebrate God’s goodness and strengthen our community of faith.”
